Our Story

Lifesize Models was started over twenty-five years ago as ALBA Shed and run as quirky side-line to the main family business.

ALBA shed was formed from the initials of Anna, Lucy, Ben & Amy and was started in our shed.

We had a store selling all sorts of unusual stuff. On a visit overseas, by chance we bumped into a Dutch chap producing fibreglass and resin products and from that meeting, we developed all sorts of products from 1ft busts to 40ft dinosaurs.

The business has moved online, although we have clients visit from all over the UK to see the quality of our products.

We have also had visitors from Europe and a gentleman drove from Germany to purchase his models from us.

We have also personally delivered models to the Isle of Wight and up as far as Edinburgh.

Our focus now is to concentrate on volume orders from our clients and expanding our product range.

Dan-Yr-Ogof are our most prolific clients. They are our only client in the UK to have our 40ft Brachiosaurs, Mammoths, Camarasaurus and several other life size dinosaurs on display.

Dan-Yr-Ogof have over 100 of our other pre-historic models in their dinosaur park as well as farm & wild animals and another 100+ Christmas and Halloween models.

We also sell an immense variety of other models including Wild Animals, Farmyard Animals, Halloween Models and Christmas Models.

Our range is so varied with over 3,000 models, we do not have a typical customer, but our main clients are: Events Companies, Theme & Farm Parks, Garden Centres, Adventure Golf Courses, Retailers and Shopping Centres.

We also sell to many private buyers who are looking for something special. Some regulars buy over several years, they may start with a cow then add other animals to create their own farm, or pirates until they have a galleon crew, or with small pre-historic models for a mini–Jurassic Park feature. Many simply buy for their gardens or patio areas.

Fun Fact: A Celebrity or two has been known to visit! For the closer acquainted movie-maker we have even presented a 7ft Oscar!

FAQ's

Find answers to our frequently asked questions below.

  • What do you make your products with?

Most of our products are made of a fibreglass/resin composite which is strong but lightweight.
Some models use stone and marble powders, metal powders (iron, bronze, aluminium and copper), and colour pigments to achieve a high-quality finish.
In addition to this, we use superior polyurethane paints, automotive lacquers, and acrylics.

  • Do you make the products yourselves?

No. Our products are manufactured abroad and imported by us.

  • What is fibreglass resin?

Fibreglass is a lightweight material that is very strong, so much so that it is used to make aircraft, boats, automobiles, bathtubs and enclosures, swimming pools, hot tubs, water tanks, roofing, surfboards etc
Because fibreglass is so light, it makes our life-size statues much easier to lift and move around as well as keeping delivery costs to a minimum.
